Who is this course for:

This course is mainly for couples who want to trade ""sitting side by side"" time for genuinely doing something together:

  • Couples (dating or married) who spend evenings working out separately or defaulting to the same dinner-and-a-movie dates, and want a shared hobby that's active, playful and screen-free
  • Busy professional pairs who want quality time and fitness in the same 20 minutes, at home, with zero equipment
  • Partners of different sizes or fitness levels — the course assigns base/flyer roles safely and explains options for every body pairing
  • Parent-child, siblings or best-friend duos looking to build trust and learn perform cool partner poses safely and create a meaningful time together
  • Complete beginners — no dance, yoga or acrobatics background needed. If you can do a gentle squat and lie on the floor, you can start.

What people will learn:

  • Perform 5 impressive beginner-friendly partner poses: your first lift, neck-hold counterbalance, flagpole, knee-stand counterbalance and back bird
  • Master the 2 concepts behind every safe pose — Foundation and Primary Action — so you know exactly what each person should be doing before you leave the ground
  • Use the Confidence Check: a simple 1–10 communication tool to decide together when to proceed, pause or adjust (if either partner is below 5, you don't go up)
  • Warm up and cool down as a pair: Learn fun and effective partner conditioning drills and after your peak pose tryouts, learn partner massage/stretches to help each other cool down.
  • Build connection rituals you can keep beyond the course, informed by International Couple Therapy Framework - the Gottman Method
  • Capture your poses at the most flattering photo angles for your social media feed and your memories

Why choose this course?

We made this course because we kept meeting couples who were fit, busy, quietly yearning more connection, more meaningful time together beyond just dinner or netflix dates. As contemporary dancers who became partners (and then acroyoga teachers), we experienced first-hand how much listening, trust and repair can happen through partner work — often beyond what words can do. Soft Sparks packages that experience into a home course.

What's unique is the blend: Skylar is a certified dance movement therapist, so each session weaves a relational practice (intention setting, appreciation journaling etc) around the physical training. You don't just learn poses — you learn how to communicate under a little bit of healthy pressure, celebrate each other, and end every session with an appreciation gesture.

The material is chosen deliberately for beginners. Every pose in this course is one we teach successfully to first-timers in our in-person Soft Sparks workshops in Singapore. The course is progressive: we start with the simplest lift and build to the back bird, always through the same two concepts — Foundation and Primary Action — with drills, progressions and role assignments that respect size differences.

By the end, you'll have 5 poses, a camera roll of proof, a jar full of written appreciations, and a ritual you can keep for the rest of your relationship. You only need 15 minutes to connect — but you'll be yearning to stay connected.

Our story: we met as contemporary dancers as teenagers and became partners — in dance and in life. When we found acroyoga, we discovered something we hadn't expected, it was a gentler, non-performative way of getting into cool poses while deeply listening to each other. Our journey of partner work has taught us more about each other than years of conversation, and so much repair can happen beyond words. The trust drills, the falls we cushioned for each other, the small appreciations after each session — they changed how we relate to each other in lfie. Soft Sparks exists to bring other duos onto that same journey: getting stronger together, in body and in relationship.
