Who is this course for:

This course is for those who feel called to work with indigo not only as a dye, but as a living plant ally and a creative, meditative practice. It is for people who long to slow down, reconnect with their hands, senses, and intuition, and create textiles or garments that carry meaning, presence, and personal transformation.

It is especially suited to those who:

  • Are drawn to natural dyes, plant wisdom, and slow craft
  • Want to learn indigo dyeing in a way that is both practical and deeply embodied
  • Feel inspired by ritual, somatic awareness, and creative self-development
  • Long for a calmer, more intentional relationship with making

  • Want to explore colour, cloth, and transformation as a personal ritual
  • Are ready to move beyond fast, outcome-driven creativity into a slower, more intuitive way of working

The audience may be broad, but this course will especially resonate with women aged around 30–55 who are interested in natural living, conscious creativity, ritual practice, and embodied self-development. It may appeal to artists, makers, mothers, therapists, yoga practitioners, space holders, and anyone moving through a period of change who wants to create something tangible to hold intention, transformation, and beauty.

Why choose this course?

I created this course to share indigo not only as a natural dye technique, but as a slower, more intuitive and meaningful way of creating. In many learning spaces, indigo is taught mainly as a technical process: how to make a vat, how to dip cloth, how to achieve colour. These practical foundations are essential, and they are included in the course, but my own experience of working with indigo has always been much deeper than technique alone. Indigo invites presence, patience, sensory awareness, and relationship with a living plant. I wanted to create a course that reflects this fuller experience and gives participants a way to approach indigo as both craft and embodied practice.

What is unique about my approach is that it combines clear, step-by-step indigo vat making and dyeing instruction with somatic awareness, embodiment, ritual, and plant connection. In this course, participants do not simply learn how to achieve a beautiful blue colour. They are also invited to slow down, work with breath and full-body presence, and experience the scent, warmth, texture, and alchemical transformation of indigo through direct sensory practice. The tea ritual and the guided dye ritual make this course different from standard natural dye classes, because they introduce indigo as a living presence and a meditative process, not only as a material.

The course material was chosen to create a complete and carefully structured journey. The introductory video opens the space and presents the philosophy of the course. The indigo tea ritual allows participants to meet the plant through the senses and the body before beginning the practical work. The vat-making and use tutorial provides the essential technical knowledge needed to work with indigo with clarity and confidence. The guided dye ritual then brings these elements together in a focused ceremonial practice, where a garment or textile is dyed with intention, presence, and care. The outro video offers reflection and closure, helping participants integrate what they have learned.

I selected this material on the basis of my own practice and understanding of what makes indigo so powerful: not only the dye result itself, but the quality of attention it asks of us. The course is designed to be both grounded and elevated — practical enough to teach real skills, and spacious enough to offer a meaningful creative experience. As a result, participants gain not only knowledge of the indigo process, but also a more personal relationship with plant dyeing, ritual making, and the creation of textiles and garments that carry intention and significance.
